Meet Jenny Mendel,

Speech and Language Therapist

Jenny loves helping children find their voice, recognise that they can communicate and become more confident in their own way.

A little about Jenny

For Jenny, one of the most rewarding moments in speech and language therapy is making a connection with a child and seeing them realise that they can communicate.
She enjoys working alongside school staff and families to understand a child’s communication needs, find approaches that feel achievable and help new skills carry into everyday life.

Makaton, early language and communication confidence

Jenny’s professional interests include Makaton signing, early language development, speech sounds and complex communication needs. She focuses on helping children participate, express themselves and build confidence through communication that works for them.

Her experience includes ten years with an NHS speech and language therapy service in Cambridgeshire, working in mainstream schools, children’s centres and clinics, followed by independent practice in mainstream schools in West Yorkshire and her work with Interactions.

Supporting children, school staff and families

Jenny builds positive relationships with both children and adults. She works collaboratively with school staff and celebrates every small success, helping the people around the child feel more confident in supporting communication too.

I love helping children develop their communication skills and seeing their confidence grow.
